Guest guest
Hi Ilene, You are partially right. Sweating is a sign of hypoglycemia. However, it is not a symptom of RSS. If he is sweating a lot, you might want to call a doctor and have his blood sigar level tested. You may even be ablt o call a pharacists and get a kit to do it yourself. However, I recommend you speak with a doctor first. Hopefully other with more experience with hypoglycemia will hae some suggestions to help relieve his symtoms. Guest guest
Hi Ilene, Yes, sweating is indicitive of hypoglycemia. You can use ketosticks to check if he is spilling ketones. Assuming he is still in diapers, one way to do this is to rip open the lining of the diaper and place the ketostick in the diaper for a short while after he awakes. You need to be especially careful at night. One suggestion at night is to place a spoonful of cornstarch in his last bottle/drink of the night before bed. This will extend the period of time he can go without eating/drinking before hypoglycemia becomes an issue. Guest guest
My daughter used to sweat a ton - and it wasn't just related to nighttime or after a few hours had passed from her last bottle. She would lay down and be in a pool of sweat - with beads forming on her face. I also check randomly for keytones (although she has never spilled) and even when she was sick once I insissted the Dr's check her blood sugar which was within the normal limits. I would say how does he act overall - you know the big picture- is he hard to wake up, lethargic, etc? FYI I check the keytones by placing a cotton ball in the diaper and squeezing the urine onto the stick (one of the many great tips I got off this site!!)
