Guest guest
Hi everybody, Despite some of the good advice I have received on this site, I decided, (because of my previous cancer (Uterine)), to go ahead with the RA tracer scan. I had it yesterday (Monday) and I have felt no side effects apart from a slight headache. However, the bad news is that my doctor was called away, so I have no idea what the results were. Still feel like c--p, wish I could get rid of the heat attacks, which happen regularly morning, afternoon and night. I understand the next thing I should ask for before considering surgery or RAI, is a fine needle biopsy, that is assuming the doctors worst fears are realised. I have no idea when I will hear from him, and it turns out instead of being a thyroid specialist as I was led to believe, he is a physician in charge of nuclear medicine at our hospital! Seems he is not even an endo, no wonder he was all for RAI!! Seems like he is the only person I can see for this unless I travel to one of the larger cities in New Zealand and because of my work and children, I can't do that. Although things have been frantic over the last two weeks, I have been reading all the posts, and just wish to add, that I quit smoking on June 1, 2002. Is it quite common to have thyroid diagnoses after quitting? Seems like I'm not the only one. Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts and advice. Please don't stop giving it because I went against best advice and had the scan. I certainly have no intentions of having RAI at this stage. Many thanks Prue Bowen
