Guest guest
Pediasure has a lot of sugar and fills the kids up with sugar instead of good calories. She is also concerned about the sugar because our kids are at risk for Type II diabetes. Sugar also fills kids up more quickly so they don't eat well orally. Jodi Z. Guest guest
Hi Jodi, drinks Pediasure every night with her snack. Is that not a good thing in what Dr. H says? > Pediasure has a lot of sugar and fills the kids up with sugar > instead of good calories. She is also concerned about the sugar > because our kids are at risk for Type II diabetes. Sugar also fills > kids up more quickly so they don't eat well orally. > > Jodi Z. Guest guest
According to Dr H it is too high in sugar. Judith, Steve, (RSS) and (non RSS) 4 1/2 year old twins
Guest guest
If I understand Dr. H. correctly, there is a time and place for sugar, but in limited amounts. She does not want our kids filling up on the empty calories that sugar provides and takes away our kids' appetites. Many parents use Pediasure as the main source of nutrition for their kids. She believes that there are other, more nutritious, formulas that can be used in place of Pediasure. That being said, she does not say that sugar is to be avoided at all costs. She just wants our kids to eat healthy foods first and to appreciate protein, fruits and vegetables, fats, etc. It is okay to give a sugary snack at night before bed, or after a meal for dessert. But we must be careful not to time it so that eating that snack will prevent eating a more nutritious meal/snack later on.l Briggs - if is having Pediasure with her snack at night, that is fine. This will not keep her from eating breakfast and will give her extra calories. Just be sure to also give her something that has some fat and protein in it to prevent hypoglycemia while sleeps. I hope this makes sense. I don't want to create a panic, either. Jodi Z.
