Hi all

I thought I would write about the conflicting information I get here

about sugar. As Jodi said here and I read many times elsewhere

pediasure has sugar and too much sugar is not good (although the

enternal formula has much less sugar than the retail variety) and is

discouraged. On the otherhand, almost all the mega calorie

shakes/drinks/snacks that are discussed and recommended are mostly

loaded with sugar too (for example, shakes made with ice cream). Does

Dr H recommend these high sugar ice cream shakes etc.?

I am wondering the same thing. It seems very hard to get in the

high calories without high sugar. My son will gulp down his

milkshake. What are Dr. H's recommendations?

No, Dr H does not recommend the high sugar ice cream shakes. When

she found out that loved ice cream she wasn't too happy about

it. She feels that sugar foods decrease a child's appetite. Also,

she is concerned with insulin resistance.
