Guest guest
Hi Barb, Your welcome. No I did not have a baseline prior to ATD's because as I said, before my Endo didn't tell me about it. I had the RAU-I uptake scan and they said, that confirmed graves disease. It wasn't until after a year or so I found out about the TSI test. I wouldn't say its necessary to get it every month or even every 3 months. If I couldn't afford it I would do it once every 6 months or 1 time per year. Only because I think that its highly unlikely that I'm going to go below 2% anytime soon. It only went down like 8 points yes thats something but still I have a long way to go. I am hopeful though that I will someday go into a remission I have come to far to go backwards. The reason my Endo did the TSI test again is because she wants to run it every 3 months now just to see where I'm at but I may tell her I don't really need that test but once every 6 months. Its very expensive its like $395.00. I can't see charging my insurance that outrageous amount when its not likely to change that much in 6 months time. There is always lots of hope if you still have your thyroid and you haven't done RAI there is TONS of hope. I wouldn't put to much stock in the TSI right off the bat. It was only after a year that I was on PTU that I actually got my first TSI test done. This is one test I feel doesn't have to be run but twice a year every 3 months is overkill (just my personal opinion from experience) So when you can afford it I would do it once then again in 6 months then maybe 2 times a year there are some people who like to get it done every 3 months but from my results I don't see the scense in it really it didn't move much and for the cost I am going to tell my doctor that I would appreciate waiting another 6 months before she does that one again. I would focus on your FT4 and your FT3 and your TSH right now and get those levels in the normal range for you. Alegra -
