Guest guest
My daughter, , also has had one urinalysis done and another one coming up in 2 weeks. As I write this to you I am reading the urinalysis report from before and it states " the excretions of c6-c10 dicarboxylic acids were slightly elevated, with a pattern not indicative of a dietary source " ??? Anyway, this is why we are repeating it. I know that the geneticist we saw wanted her to have an ultrasound done on her kidneys because she believed there was a link to kidney problems and RSS; however I have now come to learn that this is old information. Needless to say we did the ultrasound prior to knowing this and all was fine. Guest guest
Thanks. I don't have a copy of the report but I wouldn't understand the 'doctor' terms either. I just know what the doctor said.....we'll see, hopefully we'll know something tomorrow night or monday. Good luck to you too. > > My daughter, , also has had one urinalysis done and another one coming up in 2 weeks. Guest guest
Hi , I was wondering how did all of this come up? who is 4 3/4 at 26 months had a urinary tract infection and they did a VCUG and ultrasound. The VCUG is where they put a catheter and shoot dye into it and then have her under constant x-ray to watch and see if it backs up into the kidneys and then they take it out and make sure that there is no problem with the flow back out. Thankfully everything was fine. They did this because she had the urinary tract infection at a young age. And then about three/four months ago she had another urinary tract infection. I was just wondering how did all this come about - having to do the urinalysis and stuff? Thanks 4 3/4 RSS and Kelli 2 NON RSS > HI > My daughter is a possible RSS and she has had 2 urinalysis's and is > going for number 3 tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi , My daughter is almost 8 months old now. At her 6 month check up her pediatrician ordered basic bloodwork and a urinalysis to check for any problems for failure to thrive...she was 11 1/2 pounds. Everything appeared fine but there was a slight concern with the urine...too much something..I think blood cells, for the amount of urine. Her ped didn't order any thing else and sent us to a genetisist. He wanted to repeat it just to make sure everything is OK because she is not really gaining and he suspects RSS. The repeat left more concern, especially about the kidneys being able to concentrate urine. We just came home from a repeat urinalysis (and more bloodwork...suspected low growth hormone or malnutrition from a previous one) She has not tested positive for any urinary tract infections. These are just basic urinalysis, no dye or anything. Hopefully I'll know those results tonight. > > HI > > My daughter is a possible RSS and she has had 2 urinalysis's and is > > going for number 3 tomorrow. Guest guest
Oh , I hope everything works out well. Don't you just hate seeing them go through testing? It's horrible. They hate it and I can't blame them. Please keep us posted on your results. > > > HI > > > My daughter is a possible RSS and she has had 2 urinalysis's and > is > > > going for number 3 tomorrow. Guest guest
I got the results from the urinalysis. Our geneticists assistant called me because the doc was gone for the day. The results were same as the previous 2 even though this one was done after 'stressing' her kidney's by no feeding for 7 hours overnight (that is a long time for her). The assistant wouldn't tell me anything else but she said the doc would call me monday and possibly refer me out to necessary doctors. Now of course, I can only imagine the worst, and I have all weekend long to do it. All I know is the doc said that there could be problems of fluids and everything going through too quickly if the kidneys are not working right and that can contribute to her problem gaining weight. He did say it doesn't necessarily mean there is something wrong, but all I know is #3 still isn't looking any better and it's concerning them. > > > > HI > > > > My daughter is a possible RSS and she has had 2 urinalysis's and > > is > > > > going for number 3 tomorrow. Guest guest
Just a note - thinking of you and your worries. I do the same thing: think about all the worst case scenerios - I don't know what would be better - let me know partial results or just call me when you for certain what is going on. Hope you get through the weekend o.k. Sending my support, Jane, mom to - SGA ?RSS
