Guest guest
Jodi, Max has been on Cisapride for awhile now - and, as you probably know already - he was on it as a baby. We have seen NO negative side effects. The only thing you have to do is have an EKG done twice a year and some bloodwork. Cisapride was linked to some cardiac problems in some older people, so they require this to be done to check for possible complications. But this drug is a lifesaver for Max. It works its wonders most of the time and he has never had any problems from it. You are so lucky that your local GI can get it for you. Let me know if you have other questions. And good decision with the j tube. It's worth another try. is older and that much bigger now. It's better to try this first and then, if all else fails, you can do the surgery again. (Yuck.) Jodi Z. Guest guest
Jodi, THANK YOU for getting back to me. You really put my mind to ease when you said Max hasn't had any negative side effects. I think I can handle the EKG and bloodwork, not fun, but if he needs ithe needs it. Maybe he won't need Cisapride, but I wanted to know something about it first. I have heard of the cardiac problems. Something about an elongated part of the heart......they will screen him for that??? I am not real clear, but I am sure they will explain it better should he need it. Yes, the J tube is worth another shot. We just had so many negative things with his last j tube, so I am a little hesitant, but of course this would be a better alternative to the surgery. His j tube would back into his stomach so often, or it would get pulled somehow, and then we would have to drive the 45 minutes to Childrens' to have it replaced. We will see how it goes though. ) Thanks again for the info., Jodi R. > Jodi, > > Max has been on Cisapride for awhile now - and, as you probably know > already - he was on it as a baby.
