Guest guest
Hi All, Amazing huh ? I keep thinking by 2003 , our knowledge of how the human body works is accurate. But once again we are reminded there is still an awful lot of guess work . The endocrine system still defies understanding even now. I am so glad I previously choose not to try HRT, but I did believe it was the right choice for others. Guess not. I figured I was unique. Fooled again. :-) Even more sure NOW, that saving my thyroid gland really was the right choice too. I read so many sides to the debate, and then all those surveys, showing how hypo causes so much suffering. And how none of the current treatments for Graves' are great. But at least I still have my gland, and though remission is still just shy of two years, I still get labs and keep track of what is going on.... it sure would be easier if it was as simple as get rid of the thyroid and take one little pill a day. But after so many years now on all of these thyroid boards and sites, I can see very clearly that there is no such magic pill or treatment. How I wish it were true. Simple fact... if that were true.... there would not be a choice of treatment. If it were true, Graves' would not be a life long illness. But it is. Anyone else ever have moments of tears because the LIE ( one little pill a day) is not true . That statement must have been created as a false comfort to the newly diagnosed, but to anyone after the initial stages, it is cruel. IMHO. -Pam L-
Guest guest
Pam L, Thanks for all the info! I always wondered why we would need hormones that nature didn't provide. I also always suspected that it is best to not mess with hormones if at all possible. This is just common sense. Glad there are now studies to back it up.
