Guest guest
Hi, Most RSS children show normal amounts of growth hormone. Dr H does not require a stim test in order to start GHT. Guest guest
B. - Virtually every study published on RSS or SGA children in the last 3 years clearly states that a stim test is NOT indicated for an RSS or SGA child, unless there is reason to believe that there may be growth hormone deficiency (child's height falls off severely even further away after about 6 months and the weight does not fall off as much -- our kids it is usually the opposite, weight falls off more....) I would question your doctor as to why he or she thinks that a stim test is required. The MAGIC library has copies of all the latest studies that have been published on RSS/SGA kids and growth hormone. Get copies of them (free for members) and bring them to the doctor. Act interested in why he thinks a stim test is needed and then show him the articles.... If your child is born SGA, and fails to achieve catchup growth by age 2, a stim test is NOT automatically indicated to have GHT prescribed. Your insurance company may require it, but Dr. H herself usually gets around even that requirement (shows them all the studies). Maybe your doctor sees something else that makes him or her believe GHD may be there....
