Guest guest
Hi Debby and all, Sorry I missed the convention. Sounds like it was a lot of fun again. Maybe next year. Debby, if you get a refrig that is too cold, do what I do. Put the growth hormone inside a bottle of Scotch. Then to get it out you have to drink all the Scotch. If you accidentally drink the growth hormone then you get a headache that just keeps growing. What did Dr. H talk about this year? Ken M > Well we made it back yesterday afternoon. Did the return drive in one shot (a little over 9 hours). > Colette and Adam had an awesome time, as we did before. > > I am feeling a little sad that so many people were there that I didn't get a chance to connect with. I didn't want to leave the kids to go hang out at the bar (were you guys there?) and some people had to literally jump out at me for me to meet them (like Katy! thanks). I wanted to spend some time with J., but never did find you! Otherwise it was quick chats with many while waiting for Dr. H. or Dr. . I also wanted to meet Jodie R.......sorry Jodie, we probably passed each other, but never read the name tags closely enough! > I did meet, I think, all the Canadian contingent. We were well represented this year! After realizing how hard everyone else is finding it to get GHT up here, I am more than thankful for my experiences here in Toronto. > I am glad to be finished with using your " funny " money. I was getting a head ache examining the bills to make sure I gave a one instead of a 20!!! Our coloured money is so much easier LOL. > My mother enjoyed herself as well. The weather was great, I thought it might rain for the pool party but it managed to hold out. > I feel like I have been on a roller coaster and am still waiting for the world to stop spinning but we are getting there. > > My new quest now, according to Dr. H. is to get more GHT into Adam. It seems Canadian standards of GHT allowance are alot less than in the US. He was 3 standard deviations away for height and weight before starting GHT 3 years ago and now he is 2 standard deviations but Dr. H. was still flipping over the low dosage. So I have to start shaking the trees for more GHT now. That appt. is in Sept. (thankfully it's soon). > > I'd like to express my utter thanks to all of Magic and the volunteers. What an incredible extravaganza to stage and it was done with what looked like very little effort. Everything was awesome (of course our fridge was soooooooo cold in the hotel room I lost 1/4 bottle of GHT......frozen solid!! The new, second bottle was on it's way to freezing when I discovered it!!). > > Debby > > >
Guest guest
Believe it or not, we just got back from Chicago late last night! We stayed a few extra days for vacation, which were quite fun! It took me awhile to read everyone's post, and I have to ditto what everyone said about the convention - it was a great experience (and this was my second time). I definitely recommend going to this at least once if you have a child with RSS. I enjoyed meeting many of you, and it is late right now, so you'll have to excuse me for not naming names (better that I don't forget anyone this way). There were also a few people, in retrospect, I am sorry I didn't meet. I wanted to thank a few people in particular though - Pattie, thanks for bringing me to the grocery store - you made this a whole lot easier for me! , Katy, and others - you did a wonderful job coordinating the whole ordeal, and it is surely appreciated. If I am lucky enough to continue attending, I don't mind helping out a bit during the convention if needed. Katy, I did take a lot of notes during Dr. Stanhope's & Dr. Harbison's presentation (in fact I was sitting next to you in the first row), though they are not typed out yet. I would be happy to share them with you when I have them ready. However, I am without a computer for a few days (I am at my parents' house using their computer now). I am sure at this late hour I am forgetting to thank someone other than the doctors who deserve a big THANKS for all their hard work, so I hope you'll excuse me if I am being forgetful! Although all the presentations at the convention were wonderful, I particularly enjoyed the ADD seminar by Phelan. I bought his 1-2-3 Magic book, and have already read the whole book. Now I just have to get my husband on board to try using the program. I am also a reading/curriculum specialist at a center for severely emotionally disturbed students and hope to present some of the things I learned at this seminar to parents of children at our school on one of our parent nights. Other interesting facts I learned at the convention were that IGF1 levels in many of our children would be artificially high since our kids are insulin resistant. I am waiting to speak to my our local endo about this, as he thought 's GH dosage was too high, despite the fact he isn't growing. I also learned adrenarche can last for a period of several years, so for any if you who suspect puberty/adrenarche, please stay on top of it. was in adrenarche for 6 years and now is stumbling into puberty which we need to stop! A few people on this listserve have mentioned kyphosis, though it is not listed on the RSS traits brochure. was both scoliosis and kyphosis and was fitted for a back brace prior to attending the convention. He was suposed to get it today, but it wasn't ready yet. He will get it on Monday now, and will have to wear it for 21 hours a day (though I am not sure how I am going to motivate him to do this). If anyone has any questions/concerns about kyphosis and the need for a back brace, feel free to contact me. Whew - hard to believe I can type so much at almost midnight, but I guess I was on a roll. That's all for now! Kim C.
