Hi Aldyth. I'm interested in responses to your question. When I questioned my GYN about a few concerns he said these things can start from ages 35-39. I'm 39. Then when I asked about testing, he said I was too young. (!!!!) I was too tired to argue and am currently trying to find a good GP or internist to run all the tests I think I need. Problem is that the practice I want to go to isn't seeing new patients till Nov ;-( There are other hormones besides FSH to test. A book that constantly comes up is Screaming To Be Heard by Dr. Vliet, which I bought a few years ago and left to get dusty since nothing seemed relevant at the time. I do plan on giving it a more thorough reading when I have the time. Another issue for me is that I would like to avoid estrogen in any form because of a family history of breast cancer, so I may try to get into a top holistic practice in the area (no new patients till Feb 2004) so that if/when menopause, etc. really kicks in - whether it's months or years - they'll be accessible. Take care, Fay ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Surf the web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER! Guest guest
Hi, Menopause can occur early in hyperthyroidism, but it's also likely that low progesterone levels are causing symptoms of menopause. Many people have been told they were in menopause only to have their menstrual cycles resume after their thyroid hormone levels were corrected and/or they used progesterone cream. Unless menopause is confirmed with FSH and LH levels, I would suspect other causes. Take care, Elaine
