Hi nne,

My son Jordan had the same problem with finding shoes. He started walking at

13 months and his shoe size at the time was size 0 so we had no choice but to

rely on crib shoes. This went on for about a year or so. He is now 3 1/2

years old and wears a size 6 1/2. Don't worry Mia's foot will soon grow. Hope

all goes well with the weather for you guys down in FL. My prayers are with

you and all the others living in FL. Have you tried a shoe store called Stride

Rite. I believe they have walking shoes starting at size 2. They also have

a web site if you don't have a store near you. www.striderite.com Take care.

Hi,

This won't help since I'm in MA but I found a mom & pop store

called " Little Feet " in Plymouth, MA. The guy will fit the kids by

brand (we just bought Emerence a size 2 in one brand and 3 in

another) and also puts in cookie supports for my son.

He also was wonderful when my son had SMO braces (hard plastic

supports that fit under his feet to his toes and then just over the

ankles).

You might even be able to call him and ask for advice. He is a

really nice guy and might be able to offer suggestions for finding

someone in Tampa. I would ask around and see if you can find a place

independently owned in your area. Stride Rite also has kids shoes

but the head of Stride Rite New England sent his granddaughter to

this store that I go to. For any MA people, LIttle Feet is right

past Cordage Park in Plymouth same side of the street...

the same size!) SGA

Hi nne,

We had and still have shoe issues with Olivia!! The best place

that we've found so far is Wal Mart believe it or not! We always

call them before the next season of shoes comes out and ask them to

put aside shoes that are her size. This is a must since there are

more big sizes than little sizes in each box of shoes thats

delivered. Olivia's almost 5 and is still in an infant size 4

shoe. While there are many shoes that fit her now we still have a

hard time finding shoes that she can put on all by herself. Not a

big deal really though! Now finding functional/useable/practicle

winter boots is a whole other issue!!! We have had a horrible time

finding infant size 3 boots (they're bigger for some reason, maybe

for thicker socks) that are good enough for our -30 Canadian

winters. All of the baby boots are just for looks but we need

something that she can actually go out and play in. Thankfully I

phoned Wal Mart 2 weeks ago and they just phoned yesterday for me to

come in and look at 2 different styles before they put them on the

shelf. I can't believe how helpful they've been over the years.

Hope this might help some and I'm so glad that you're safe down

there!

Hi nne,

My 27 month old daughter Jillie is just in a shoe size 2 and despite

being well nourished and on GH (23lbs, 31.5inches) her hands and

feet are smaller than many newborns I look after and many of the

other RSS kids I've met that are younger than her. She wears SMO's

(leg spints) which extend to her toes - so after getting them on

over socks, I put her in a size 3 lace up boot. They are still a bit

big but I can make them snugger with the laces. According to the

shoe store I use (one with shoe fitting specialists) walking shoes

(i.e. those with real soles which flex but are supportive) start in

a size 2.5 in a few styles. I know there is a website for small

supportive shoes that someone put on the listserve months ago but I

cannot remember the name. Anyone know it?? If all else fails, I'd

put her in 2 pair of socks and cut out some insoles to fit the

shoes.

Hope you and all other Floridians stay safe!

I had a little question about shoe size. Mia is 22 months tomorrow

and her feet are size 2 1/2. They seem very small even for her small

stature (she is 29 inches and 19 pounds). Her hands are tiny too.

My sister-in-law just had a baby and we put their hands together and

Hi nne-

My info is 36 years old but the Buster Brown guy was able to special

order my first pair of shoes, size 2, when I was 25 months old. So

it might not hurt to ask if anyone can special-order stuff that

isn't necessarily on the shelves.

Stride Rite in Tampa can be found at Citrus Park Mall and West Shore

Mall. Dillard's and JC Penney's also carry Stride Rite shoes.

We used keds. They make shoes in a 0 with hard soles and my girl started

walking in the 1's! Be advised that keds also tend to run about a size

small and are great for narrow feet as well. Ebay ususally has a great

selection when their feet are this small and they've usually never touched

the floor and so are in excellent shape! You might try stride rite as well.

nne,

Storm's feet were incredibly small also at that age. He wore a two.

We actually found very cute tennis shoes at Wal-Mart with a hard sole

bottome! (In fact he even had one's in these shoes- I kept them of

course!) Good luck, I'm sure you can find some!

Hi nne,

I would search the archives for shoes. This subject comes up every

few months and I know that people have posted where they have been

able to find small size walking shoes for our children.

-There is a brand called Jumping jacks and they come in size 2 you

dqn order them from Nordstrom on their web site. Also Stride Rite

can order them for you, you well need to talk to a manager, because

they seem to me more helpful.
