Guest guest
Hi Just an update on Liam. As some of you know, Liam had never been diagnosed with reflux, until we saw Dr H in Chicago, and that was practically the first thing she told us when she saw Liam. Since then we have talked to liams GI specialist who didnt think an endo could make a call like that from a half hour meeting, but let us start zantac, to see if anything changed. We didnt notice anything major, but in 5 week liam put on 300gms and stopped retching in the AM. Today Liam had ear tubes put in because of recurrent ear infections and reptured ear drums, his ENT did a oesophogoscopy (? some kind of endoscopy) and came out describing how throughout the whole procedure Liam had green fluid continually coming up into his oesophagus, meaning not only did the stomach contents come up( he had been fasting for 8 hours) but bile from the duodenum???? Also the anaesthetist presumed his grotty chest was from aspiration? All of this we have to discuss now with the doubting GI specialist. At this stage of today, I am only venting, I dont have a clue what our next steps will be, but I had to pour it all out. Thanks for listening Jody(mum to Liam 10.2kg 82cm and cameron)
Guest guest
Jody, You have done all you possibly could to explain Dr H's diagnosis of reflux to Liam's GI specialist. If the reflex was confirmed today by a ENT specialist and his GI still refuses to accept the results, you know what you have to do next. Don't give up now, you'll be right. One question....how come your 'venting' now and not belly aching!!! ne > Hi > Just an update on Liam. > As some of you know, Liam had never been diagnosed with reflux, > until we saw Dr H in Chicago, and that was practically the first > thing she told us when she saw Liam. > Since then we have talked to liams GI specialist who didnt think an > endo could make a call like that from a half hour meeting, but let > us start zantac, to see if anything changed. Guest guest
Jody, just a pat on the back! You have done everything you can for Liam - he is lucky to have you - to fight for him. I don't think these Dr.'s realize just how great and intuitive Dr. Harbison really is. They can be so busy trying to prove someone else is wrong and that they know what is best that they lose track of what is really important - LIAM! Good Luck - my thoughts are with you!
