Guest guest
<<Right now when she gets angry she resorts to pinching, scratching, kicking, and sometimes biting.I know it is a phase.............Thanks. >>>>>> Hi, Many things in child development are confusing and are simply phases, However, this type of behavior(when severe or lasting more than a few days, " IS " usually a sign of something else, not just a phase, especially since you say it is effecting everyone else so. You are right to ask about it, as it must stop. Now I am just a mom, but I see too many people ignore this warning signal, because of the word " phase " , or they question their parenting(which can be a reason for continuing this, if it is not being handled correctly), however, even with proper parenting, some kids can't stop. This should be a flag that something is wrong, and this is this child's only defense. I wonder about Dysfunction of Sensory Integration (DSI)issues????? I see many many children with these issues, until the stress level of the child is lightened, after learning about DSI and modifying things, and they start therapy for it! This issue effects so many children! These kids can also be afraid of simple things that you and I wouldn't think of, like noise, light, movement, touch, bad breathe,, their socks or shoes, clothing, change, disappointment, etc....... I hope this helps a bit! It's not every child, but the parental excuses that I hear for behavior just make things last longer and make the child's and everyone around the child life more hectic. I have seen such wonderful progress in regards to negative behaviors of many types and attention issues helped greatly by DSI education. Let me know if you need more information about DSI.
