Hi Prue,

Taking 1000 mg of flaxseed oil three times a day is probably about right. It is

supposed to be better absorbed if you take it with a bit of protein like yogurt

or cottage cheese. You should see some effects in decreasing any swelling around

the eyes. In my case I got better effects from buying bottled flaxseed oil,

which has to be refrigerated and may be a little fresher than capsules. I take 2

tablespoons once or twice a day (mixed with banana yogurt).

I'm sorry your symptoms and your doctor are difficult to cope with. When I

became hyper last fall I was sure it was menopause because I had amazing night

sweats. I was fortunate because my doctor presented all three treatments choices

as equally good, each with their own pros and cons. And since there's nothing

wrong with our poor thyroid glands, just the commands our bodies are giving

them, it made sense to me to try for remission on ATDs. You can get lots of

information here to make your choice, including the current scientific research

on remission rates. Now all you need is a reasonable doctor!

Best wishes,
