Guest guest
Hello list, My daughter has been GFCF for 18 months now. She doesn't really get sick, thus we really haven't tried many medications on her. Three days ago she seemed to have some allergies - runny nose, sneezing a lot - so I had purchased the Dye-free Benadryl to give her. What a mistake!!! For the past 3 days she has screamed, run around the house, been semi-aggressive - things she is normally NOT. Has anyone else's child had the same reaction to this Dye-free Benadryl? We have stopped using it altogether and looking toward the homeopathic route now. Any suggestions for homeopathic remedies for allergy symptoms anyone? Thanks, Penny
Guest guest
I had mentioned to my son's pediatrician that gets wild when he takes Benadryl and that I was going to buy the dye-free. He said not to bother, because oftentimes the dye-free makes kids just as hyper! The active ingredients just tend to either zonk kids out or put them in hyperdrive. He offered to prescribe something else if I really thought he needed it, so maybe that's an option for you. > Hello list, > > My daughter has been GFCF for 18 months now. Guest guest
Penny, Just a thought on a possible connection....I think I remember this product having sorbitol in it. If it does, that could be something she is reacting to. My son is corn-free and when he (in the past) had anything with sorbitol in it.......well, you described pretty much how much son acts, too. It took us a few times to learn about this (sorbitol), so now we avoid it like we do gluten, casein and the million other things he reacts to. Hope your daughter is feeling better soon. Guest guest
Just so you know I called the company a few weeks ago asking about the Benadryl spray and the representative on the phone said that it was gluten free but they do not guarantee it because they have cross contamination issues.
