Welcome. It's the weekend, so it'll either be quiet, or you may encounter

people with a lot of time on their hands ;-)

Has he been on and off anti-thyroid medication (ATDs) as treatment? He is

in no position to make an informed decision about RAI. I recently sent

something I put together on using anti thyroid drugs to the group. Sorry

I have no time to dig it up. It's a very simplified, possibly simplistic,

explanation of the basic protocol for ATDs. Chances are he hasn't had it

and he deserves an opportunity to make ATDs work for him.

If he's the type to be responsible and compliant with meds long term he

may want to look into Block and Replace Therapy (BRT), especially as

practiced in parts of Europe and the Far East.

Take care, Fay

sounds to me like your brother had a dr who is not good at taking care of a

HyperT/Graves patient if he's being taken off and on the meds. That happened to

me and there is NO way to feel better when that is going on. My particular dr

only focused on TSH, and never did the first FT3 or FT4 test. He only tested T3

and T4, which wasn't telling us anything. I went with him for a year and

finally learned he was an idiot. I fired him.

Does your brother by any chance have any of his copies of bloodwork? Those are

helpful to try to guess what this dr is doing and why. He needs the bloodwork

which shows his labwork and the values that lab uses. If he doens't have them,

it would be good for him to get the copies, then post them here. :-)

Graves and alternative medicine

Hello. I am new here and I have lots of questions that I'm hoping to

get some good advise here.

My brother was diagnosed with Graves disease 1 year ago. He has been

on and of medication and he is still having problems. Last month he

was told by his Dr. that he needs to go for RAI . He lives in Europe

and after he told us, we researched a lot and found out RAI should be

the last option and alternative medicine could be effective. So I am

trying to find as much information as I can. He went to see a

homeopathic doctor recently but apparently he told that for graves

they can't do much and this made him disappointed but I have read a

lot of success stories and I know taking vitamin/minerals and

exercise and herbs could make alot of difference.

I was wondering if you could help with how to start and what food is

good and what's bad.

Thank you in advance for any response.

Fran
