Hi HD-

The 1/2 life of T3 is 3/4 of a day (18 hrs) which means that 1/2 of it is

used up in 18 hours. This isn't the same thing as peak levels. What I did

when taking Armour is take the 1st dose immediately upon waking and then I

took the 2nd dose 1 hr before dinner (5-6pm).

T3 (in any form) will not be perfect since it's not made as you need it so

you'll be flooded with it for a time then it'll drop off. I cannot find any

regime that's optimal but some work better than others. For me, taking T4

once/day and T3 4 times/day works the best so far. I've been doing this for

a while (it's a heck of a lot better than T4 alone) and if anyone has found

something that works well for them I'd be happy to hear of it. Ultimately,

I'd like to be on less T3 (even though it works better, the ups and downs

aren't good) and more T4.

Take care,

, I was wondering what ups and downs you experience with T3? I take my

T4 and one T3 upon waking, and the second dose of T3 at about 3pm. I don't

notice any ups and downs, seem fairly stable.

Hi Jen-

I don't have any thyroid function any longer and take a large dose of T3. I

take 35-40 mcg/day spread out 4x/day in addition to 125 mcg of T4/day. My

T4 levels are borderline low while my T3 levels are mid-normal.

Since I don't have any thyroid function left, I think it's probably why I

have these fluctuations. Regardless, I don't think it's a good thing to

take a large dose of T3 even spread throughout the day if it can be helped.

But sometimes it can't be avoided.

Anyhow, I have short bursts of energy and long bouts of being a slug on the

T3. It's much better than I was on T4 alone where I was always slow. But

my personality and energy changed dramatically when I had RAI. Before that,

normal for me was charming and witty and involved. Normal now is getting

through the day. At least now I have some energy for my babies. I didn't

have that at all for my oldest when I was on T4 alone.

Hopefully, my children won't know.

Take care,
