Guest guest Posted July 28, 2004 Report Share Posted July 28, 2004 PPI is proton pump inhibitor. This means that the pumps that produce stomach acid are turned off temporarily. A PPI will turn them off, but it lasts only for less than 24 hours. That is why some kids need a PPI in the morning, like Prilosec or Protonix, and Zantac or Nexium at night.
