Guest guest
Hi Jae, The best way to avoid the eye disease while on antithyroid meds is to be sure your thyroid levels stay in normal range and you don't beocme hypothyroid, as that can make any problems worse. Smoking also worsens the disease, and I feel that a few cigarettes I 'bummed " when I was first developing my eye disease made it more serious. Many people with Graves' have no major problems with the eye disease, however. Those of us who do have eye irritation and worse benefit fromtaking flaxseed oil or other sources of Omega 3 fatty acids. As far as your endo's prediction that ATDs would make you fat, morose and irritable, those sound like hypothyroid sympoms, which are far more common in people who've had their thyroid destroyed. Best wishes, B.
