Hey Kim,

We, also, have the problem with an endo butting heads with Dr H's ideas. We

are currently using the nurse practitioner, in our endo's, office as a

liaison. Dr has been extremely difficult to work.

This is a direct quote from Dr H that we received when 's blood test

results came back with a high IGF-1 reading.

" The high IGF-1 [insulin like growth factor -1] and IGF-1BP-3 [the binding

protein for IGF-1] are related to the insulin resistance that he has.

Insulin and IGF-1 are a similar shape and share receptor similarities. "

Her suggestion for us was to watch 's weight VERY carefully, and to

keep him at the 5% on the weight-for-height or lower.

As far as the OGTT, all I can say is that Dr H runs some of her tests

differently than other Drs. We've had the problem with the GET (gastric

emptying test). Our GI says that there is only one way to run the test, and

she won't even try to contact an endo regarding a GI problem.

I know what you mean about problems just seeming to come all at once!

was just referred to 3 new specialists, and several new problems

have come to light, just since the convention.

Hang in there!

Pat,

Thanks for your kind words. I love being able to post things on this site to

people who

can actually realte to what we are going through - sometimes family & friends

just doesn't

cut it if you know what I mean. I am not giving up hope trying to get things

straight with

- after all I've only been doing this for almost 11 years now! Were you

at the

convention? If so, I guess we never got a chance to meet.

Hey Kim,

Yep!! We were there, and I have no idea how we missed each other, but

obviously we did! I totally get what you mean about family not cutting it!!

Mine drives me nuts!! Well, all except my dad, he's really cool, and he'll

help me with looking up things for B. it is nice to have a place that you

can go, and people that understand what it is to live with this sort of

thing day in and day out.

Keep in touch, and let us know what happens with !

Hugs for you all!
