Guest guest
Hi everyone, as most of you know, three weeks ago my endo said that I was hypo and started me on synthroid 100 mg. I take one a day. I am feeling better but my eyes are still swollen and they hurt. I have also been taking the flaxseed oil once a day. I called my endo and he said that the swelling should go away but doesn't know when and asked me if I needed a higher dose of the synthroid I couldn't answer that because I don't know. How do I know something like that? does my body tell me? I've also started exercising again is this ok? It makes me feel better because I've gained alot of weight and I want to be healthy again. I have one more question I've been reading about this coconut oil and how it helps people lose weight does anyone know anything about this and is it true? As always I'm very thankful for all of your help. Kim H.

Sometimes yes, if you are lethargic, depressed, or still gaining weight it is usually a strong hint. If you are feeling okay, than hang with it till the next blood test. > I've also started exercising again is this ok? We can't say, only your doctor can. If he didn't warn against it, and you feel well enough to do it, then it probably fine to go ahead. It is only usually an issue if you've had heart or other serious health problems, which are sometimes a result of hyperthyroidism. If your planning on training for a marathon or something unusual probably best to ask the doctor first. > I have one more question I've been reading about this > coconut oil and how it helps people lose weight does anyone know > anything about this and is it true? Coconut oil (and milk) have some fascinating properties, and it probably is a very healthy food in moderation, but eating something to help lose weight is not in my game plan. For me getting thyroid function to the right level, and cutting out all those foods full of empty calories (crisps, biscuits ice cream, sugary drinks), and replacing them with food that has nutrients as well as calories did the trick. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQE+1oPxGFXfHI9FVgYRAlWLAKDKA/aV6UOwFQZw67afBNApr8ZwmACeOe8D st7ojbOJs4aW5N1IkGtDl6k= =3nHu -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
Guest guest
Hello! I would research both. Even though you had RAI, you still have Graves. RAI doesn't cure the autoimmune disorder, it kills the thyroid tissue to stop symptoms of hyperthyroidism. So in essence, you have traded hyper for hypo, but still have Graves antibodies. At least you have a doctor with an open mind who is willing to treat your hypothyroidism with Armour! No small feat! God bless,

Guest guest
Hi sharon, Those labs show severe hypothyroid. You'll always have Graves' disease and will want to keep up on developments there, but right now you're hypothyroid because your thyroid gland was destroyed. This board will help since there's lots of people with experiencing using thyroid replacement hormone. Take care, elaine
