Guest guest
Hi there Sabina, I was at first worried about this too before we started doing the hi cal shakes/smoothies with Olivia. The difference for us is that Olivia's not getting these shakes multiple times a day. For instance if a child is bottle fed and you're giving them 4+ cans of pediasure a day instead of formula then they're getting a ton of sugar. We use the shake at bedtime only to ward off the dreadded Hypo-g episodes. I'm hoping that our thinking is correct on this and we're also hoping that we don't have to worry about IR yet because Olivia's so underweight, she's around the negative 50%ile height for weight, once she starts gaining sufficient weight we'll probably cut down on the shakes. What a great question to ask though, I'm interested in hearing other responces to it too!
