Guest guest
One of our twins, our son, has lost weight on the diet, but we are kind of doing a Feingold diet as well, with no artificial colors, no phenols, not really any natural colors other than green beans. We found out just after we first noticed the weight loss that he has a pretty bad bacteria overgrowth and are treating it. He's doing better now and I'm proud to say that just this afternoon had his very first solid stool. We were all so shocked and amazed we nearly couldn't change his diaper and I, for a brief moment considered taking a picture of it for our scrapbooks, then reconsidered! We've had battles (mainly losing ones!) with diarrhea since they were born. Donna

Good luck I hope ypu solve the weight loss problem. Since we started to reduce the gluten in her diet her awareness has deteriorated badly, the babbling has stopped again (no more " mamamama " L ), she is no longer ticklish and has withdrawn into her little shell again. Even worse, we have noticed a considerable weight loss and diarrhoea. The reason I ask is that I was wondering if she may be anemic. My 23mo old nt daughter is on iron sup and she was displaying some of the same symptoms, very tired, laying on the floor alot etc. Just another thought, maaybe you should ask for Hematocrit, Hemoglobin (spelling?) when tou visit her Dr. Hope this helps Marcie > > I will be taking her to our family GP on Monday but I wonder whether these could be withdrawal symptoms? Guest guest
Hi Donna, My first thought when I got to line 6 of your post was " go take a picture! " - that's what I would have done :-)) We've never really had a problem with weight loss/diarrhoea so are quite shocked. We will be getting her blood test results back tomorrow, who knows... Do you not find the Feingold diet very restrictive? Another mother suggested cutting out all the salicylates (sp?) but there is so little in Frances' life for her to enjoy (she has *many* other problems apart from her autistic side...is classed as profoundly physically and mentally disabled) that we feel we cannot take away the few little joys she does have, like apples for example. It seems positively cruel to take them away from her. She is MFG and aspartame free, though. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
