Guest guest
Hi, I haven't posted in some time but do check out the list quite a bit for changes and information. I just wanted to write a quick note about my son's improvement since we began the diet in April 2000. My son (now almost four) had ALL his shots by 12 months of age including live polio. By 19 months he lost all the words he could say but luckily retained receptive language. He had some motor skills issues as well. He began speech therapy at age two and for six months made zero progress. The neurologist we took him to at age 21/2 diagnosed PDD-NOS and prescribed Paxil, an antidepressant. I put him on the diet instead. By August of 2000 when he started school he could say maybe 10 simple words. By October he was improving so rapidly that all the tests the school conducted on him were obsolete! He now speaks in sentences although still has some problems with articulation. His motor skills have also improved (He can ride a bike, Yay!). I cannot say enough about how the diet and supplements have helped him. The first 3-4 months when we saw no progress, I was tempted to give up and the improvement was slow but then he really took off and now we cannot shut him up(and don't want to!). He is becoming more and more social as well and not so " spacey " . He talks to and plays with other kids and seems SO happy and alive like he was as a baby! We are still working on various issues and have just begun chelation for heavy metals. His tests came back so high in aluminum, arsenic and mercury it was shocking! We are hoping this will be what is needed to help him the rest of the way. As it is the school's early intervention program has stopped talking about holding him back from kindergarten an extra year and I expect he will mainstream by that time. Even though I did not post much in the past year, (not feeling nearly knowledgeable enough!) I have monitored the list for information and usually had my questions answered before having to ask. So a big THANK YOU to all the wonderful and helpful people who make this list a great support! Suzanne (Happy and Hopeful in Pensacola!) Suzanne, Yay for you and your little one! Keep us posted on his continued improvements, especially as you undergo chelation. We're preparing to start down that path, and I'm anxious to hear others' stories. Sue
