Guest guest
Elaine, In 1999, when I stopped taking prednisone for asthma (after 10 years), I had Cushing's Syndrome. I was diagnosed with Graves last month. I ran across this article: Eur J Endocrinol. 2002 Sep;147(3):305-11. Says that 56% of (endogenous) Cushing's patients have primary thyroid disorder after steroid is withdrawn. Have you ever read anything about this, specifically as to what happens to those thyroid patients after treatment? If prednisone is an immunosuppressant, am I just ridiculously optimistic (or foolish) to think that I would have an immune reaction after prednisone is withdrawn and it MIGHT resolve itself with ATDs??
