Guest guest
We experienced increased frequency and looseness when we started the diet too. Our DAN dr. said this is typical, and told us not to bother going to conventional dr. for it, because this is what happens: you go to the pediatrician, they do stool cultures and ova & parasites X 3, the stool cultures and O & P are negative, they refer you to the GI, they do a biopsy, the intestines show mild inflamation, they have no explanation other than general irritation, possibly food allergies. So you are back to square one. Like conventionally responsible parents, we went to the ped anyway, did the cultures, went to the GI. She believed that since we replaced milk with more juice, that the extra sugar was causing the looser stools. She recommended slowing down on the juice. It worked for us. Cow's milk and wheat are constipating foods, they really slow down the system. So when you take them out, it speeds up for awhile. After a few months, it will go back to normal. A year later, we heard from K. Reichelt that diarrhea and aggression are typical responses to begining the diet, especially in males. Wish I had known that in the beginning , Blake's mom, encephalopathy, 5.
