Hi Everyone,

I have just been diagnosed with Graves Disease, almost

by accident. I tripped over and broke my finger and

knuckle, had it plastered to my elbow. Went back to

my GP, happened to say I thought I may be going thru

early menopause as I have been having hot flushes, can't

sleep, rashes on my legs and hands. She did a blood test

and said I had a Vitamin D deficiency. Had a bone density

test - bones are fine. GP asks if I've been tired, of course I

always feel tired, but assume this is just part of getting

older. More tests done ....this is only last week and my GP

manages to get me in to see the Endocrinologist the next day,

normally a 6 week wait. Graves was diagnosed and I'm now on

medication for a month until my next visit.

I must confess to being a bit confused at the time, but I

did remember to ask about diet. She said " no you don't have

to do anything special " . I also asked about the cold & flu

tablets I was taking as I had a rotten head cold, but was

told that was ok as well.

Of course I have spent the past 2 days on the internet

searching for as much info as I can. I have a cousin and an

Aunt with Lupus and another cousin on the other side of my

family with MS, so my Mum is concerned as well and is

looking through all her books on home remedies.

BTW the link to a " letter to a Spouse " doesn't seem to work.

Thanks for listening,

Alison,

Melbourne
