Could chapped lips and flushed cheeks be an allergic reaction? I

have my son on Soy milk (haven't removed the gluten yet) and he has

recently developed very chapped lips, both upper and lower. I've

seen him lick his lips before or pull his upper lip with his lower

one, but I'm not sure if this is because of that or because he got

ahold of a casein product. I'm thinking about taking him off of Soy

and slowly putting him on rice milk. He rejected the rice milk, even

with Hershey's chocolate syrup!

Anyone had anything similar happen to them?

Thanks!

Yep, especially with the flushed cheeks. Could be the soy or

something added to the soy milk.

Have you tried darifree or almond milk? Or add a little darifree to

rice milk to give it a creamier texture.

Yes!

A few months ago, we experimented with going casein free for a weekend

(this is before we started the diet for real), and I loaded my son up

with soy milk and soy cheese etc. He had very chapped lips and a rash

all around his mouth like a clown.

So, although we haven't tested yet, my operating assumption is that he is

allergic to soy, and we're using Darifree.

I've heard that it's also the first symptom of dehydration.
