Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone with a child on enteral feeds via a zevex

enteralite pump has had or is having problems with it working. I

think I must have gone through 12 - 15 of these pumps in just over a

2 yr period. The company that supplies us with the pump(s) is trying

to phase them out as they are forever not working right. Before I get

on the phone to Zevex directly, I'm wondering if the biomed dept at

our supply company is not servicing them right vs. it being a poor

product. Does anyone have any input?

Does anyone know the cost of the pump if bought brand new??

Thanks,

whole bunch of respiratory meds)

I have had a Kangaroo Pet Pump for 10 years and have only had to exchange it

twice, but

it never completely stopped working. I had exchanged it right before the

convention,

because tha battery wasn't charging & I had a hard time getting a new one before

we left

for our trip. The one they finally delivered to me looked like it had been

dropeed as it had

several hairline cracks on it. Sure enough, at the convention, the chamber

portion cracked

completely off, and I panicked not having another pump with me. I went & spoke

to the

Zevex people (how convenient that this happened when I was at aconvention with

feeding

pump suppliers). They sent me the Zevex Enteralite overnight & showed me how to

use it.

I liked this pump much better than the Kangaroo Pet one that I had for years.

It is smaller,

weighs less, primes the pump automatically, and has a wider range to set feeding

rates/

volumes. I tried to get this one instead of the Kangaroo Pet when I came home,

but was

unable to. This pump cost 2-3 times as much as a Kangaroo Pet. I think it was

around

$1700 brand new. Feeding bags cost about the same as Kangaroo bags though.

Sorry to

hear you are having a lot of problems with it. I didn't have any problems with

mine, but I

only had it for 30 days. The Kangaroo Pet pump has been pretty reliable over

the years for

me. My biggest complaint is that it is not always accurate in the time it

should take to

deliver a dose.

Hi ,

is also using the Zevex pump, and from what I hear, I wouldn't

want to use anything else. has gone through some pumps, but

our homecare company switches them out every so often to service

them, and they give us a different pump. Just recently he got a brand

new pump, and I have been having a little trouble with the " No Flow

In " alarm, but it just needs to be cleaned when it keeps doing this.

Have you ever cleaned your pump? I was told to use a Q-tip and get

it just damp, put a little tiny bit of soap on it, and clean around

where the tubing runs, and around the black wheel. Let it air dry

for a few minutes, and start it back up. Usually works like a charm,

unless it is something internal, which is rarely the case. It sounds

like you are having a lot more trouble than I have had these past 2

years and 4 months. Does your company switch them out for

maintenance? Also, your insurance is paying for the pump rental,

right? How long has Jillie been on the pump? Depending on how long,

at least 12 months, your insurance company should have already paid

for the pump. Ours has been paid for, but I have noticed that the

home care company was still trying to bill insurance. Luckily it was

caught and I got it straightened out. Anyway, check into cleaning it

and find out if your insurance has paid up on the pump. Whether you

need a new one or not, they should switch you pumps if you are having

trouble.

Hopefully something in this message has helped you! LOL. :o)

Hi ,

Mollie too has been using the zevex pump for a year now. We had

had the kangaroo before that. I really like the zevex. I must admit

the first pump that we had until August was much more reliable. I

had virtually no problems at all. The pump was swithced for

scheduled maintainence. The pump that I have now does not function

properly. It is not always consistent delivering interval feeds, nor

does it shut off on its own without beeping. A feature I was looking

forward to having. No flow in has also been a problem, but we too

have been able to get through that with a little gentle cleaning. I

must say the the zevex bags are much more reliable than the Kangaroo

bags. We use Apria Healthcare for her supplies, they have not been

easy to work with at all. I will be intersted to hear who you are

using. I wish there was another option. Good lUck. Don't give up. I

do think overall it is a much better pump than the kangaroo. But it

is hard to find people in this area that have any expertise at all.

- We also have child with RSS - 34 months 22# 5oz on a Zevex

Enteralite pump. We had no problems with the first one, then it was

changed out for maint. We cleaned it cont., but to no avail. My husband

& brother-in-law figured out to add increased pressure onto the tubing by

taping the top lid (the indentations on the inside) where the connections

are to hold the tubing down tighter. How often is Jillian on the pump?

Jake is on it about 18 hours per day. We purchased one of the small

backpacks from LLBean for about $15 - put a children's arm swimmy in the

bottom to bring the height up and he goes all day toting it around. The

pack is the perfect size and it is durable. The best part is if it

breaks down LLBean guarantees it's products.
