Do you mean because of a deleterious reaction to ATDs? This is rare (much rarer than any of the risks of RAI) but of course any endo would be remiss in not pointing that out. Unfortunately, sometimes when people suffer severe reactions to ATDs it's because they were put on too high a dose, or kept on an inappropriately high dose for too long. This is why endos measure CBC and liver function monthly for the first month or two on ATDs and ideally should do baseline tests in these areas before starting ATDs. Also, a reaction to one ATD does NOT preclude trying the other.
