It was a clinic that gave him a " free " physical that called CPS on us. No more freebies for us! I took both boys today to the doctor we were seeing several years ago (because he's close enough to walk there and their records were there). I was dreading it because last time we went (two years ago), this was the doctor that was griping about 's weight. Well, Providence was smiling on us because the guy has *changed*!!! It could also be that he was tiffed that some snot-nosed youngster was trying to diagnose *his* patient while doing a " freebie. " Who knows? Anyway, he was offended that CPS was called. Especially after hearing that their 5 older siblings were also small until they grew prodigiously during puberty, he gave his " official " pronouncement (which is what counts!) that they are both simply constitutionally short, and it'll average out at puberty just as it did for their older brothers and sister. None of them are going to be basketball players but the older boys got to be about 5'7 " , which is just fine. The dr must have gained some experience in the last few years, because he was totally satisfied that I feed them properly, and he confirmed that they are both perfectly healthy and sound. He also doesn't have a problem with the GFCF diet, though he doesn't think (NT) needs it, though I'm keeping him on it anyway; I still think he does need it. He was impressed at the gains Philip's made with the diet. The key is that they are constitutionally *short,* not underweight or malnourished in any way. These two are " low-weight " because they are *healthy* and have the optimum weight for their height. They have strong arms and legs, bright eyes, clear skin and shiny hair. The last thing they need is to gain weight for its own sake. I only wish *I* could eat like they do and not gain weight! If they gained weight they'd just be short and fat, instead of short and healthy. Nothing is going to put height on them when their bodies simply are not genetically ready to give it. The question is whether or not CPS will bow out and go away now. It depends on the social worker and her supervisor - *not* on the case itself. Once they get their foot in the door, you can prove their first case against them, but they always have their antennae out for *anything* else they can get involved with. The SW could say she was concerned about Philip, or the homeschooling, or me not having enough help, or something just out of left field, and we could be in for the long haul. I pray not! And I still just want to slap whatever idiot made the call! Kate
