Guest guest
Hello Everybody! I saw the Endocrinologist today, and he actually informed me that if I had seen him first, he wouldn't have ordered a biopsy since his exam and ultrasound didn't indicate anything alarming to him. He said he didn't see a cyst either, which was happy news. But since this other diagnostician from the hospital had it written down that I should get a biopsy for further evaluation, he felt he was in a funny position and left the decision up to me. Since I had my trusty security blanket with me (AKA my darling hubby Jim), I went ahead and had the biopsy done. Even if he (my endo - first time I can say that! LOL) was 99.9% sure it was going to come back showing either Hashimoto's disease (more on that in a bit) and not the big C.....I thought I'd feel better ruling out even that . 1 percent. Should get the definitive word back on that early on next week...so keep me in your prayers please! TIA He numbed me up and I kept my eyes tightly closed. :-) I didn't really feel any pain....just an odd sensation of something poking around deep in my throat. Jim said it was pretty disturbing to look at as they needle was like 4-5 inches long and they had it jammed all the way in and were wiggling it madly around. Kinda glad I missed the visual on that one! LOL Hopefully none of you will ever require one, but if you do, take my word for it.....get the numbing stuff and it's not bad at all. As my dear friend Gail put it to me last night when she called to encourage me " Just say YES to drugs! " :-) I am sporting a snazzy Band-Aid on my throat and will have a lovely bruise underneath, so they tell me. I plan on telling everybody I got bit by a vampire....if anyone asks! " Ohhhhh....Angel! " My throat feels a bit wonky right now, but I'm sure that'll fade over the next day or two. The specialist says I have a mild case of Graves....which probably swings back and forth over time between that and Hashimoto's disease. He said Hashimotos often makes your thyroid enlarged.....so he's pretty confident I have that as well as Graves. He says that this is fairly common. He ordered some blood tests done, and has put me on a very low dose (5mg. once a day) of the tapazole medication to get my levels adjusted. I had fresh blood drawn today for new labs, and he will see me in a month with more fresh labs just prior to my visit. Now I just need to see my ophthalmologist on Monday as I want to know if I have Graves Ophthalmology (I do have a couple of the eye symptoms like pain behind my eyeballs, gritty sandpapery feeling, bloodshot even more than normal for me). Hopefully I won't have it, or if I do it'll be a mild case that will resolve w/o too many complications. So I feel much cheerier today. I'll let you all know how the biopsy report comes out. Thanks everybody for the support and encouragment that you have shown to this newbie. It means a lot to know I've got a place like this to come to for the ups and downs of my condition. It's like " Cheers " ! Have a wonderful weekend all and God bless.
Guest guest
, Glad to hear it went well with your biopsy, and that the likelihood is very high that there is no C.
