Guest guest
I recently emailed Snak King regarding their Jensen's Orchard Veggie Chips (available at Sam's Club). Here is their reply: Dear Ms Sampson, In answer to your recent inquiry, there are no wheat nor milk products used in the formulation of Jensen Orchard Veggie Chips. The processing line used for the Veggie Chips is also used to process corn based tortilla chips. Within the facility, we do manufacture products which contain or use secondary ingredients which may contain peanuts, tree nuts, sesame seeds, nonfat dry milk and milk by-products (such as whey), shellfish, soy, wheat and sulfites. As a responsible food manufacturer, Snak King is very aware of potential allergenic ingredients and makes every reasonable attempt to prevent cross-contamination of materials. However, we would advise that there is a potential that incidental amounts may be present. I hope this answers your questions and thank you for your interest in Snak King products. Should you need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us. Sincerely, Beverly Bensing ******************************************************* I never considered that simply manufacturing a wheat or milk product in the same building would be a risk. How far do you all take the risk of cross contamination? I've never really worried about it before, since doesn't have any diagnosis, just wild behavior when he eats gluten and casein, he's GFCF more for a precautionary reason (he's 15 months with high peptides). I take it that you still eat foods that are manufactured in the same plant as non-GFCF foods. Should I take Snak King's reply to mean that they are GFCF, and they just made the lenghy statement about cross-contamination just to cover their butts in case of a freak accident? Or am I totally wrong here? __________________________________________________

I was wondering about your experience- Did you let have some? Any reaction? Our household is not totally gfcf (Brett has 4 older siblings who still eat some " regular " food), so I give Brett enzyme-aid to cover the occasional cross-contamination that may occur from countertops, etc. It sounds to me like the risk with the Veggie Chips is so miniscule, and since I'm giving the enzyme-aid just in case, I think I'll let Brett try these (unless of course your son had a horrible reaction). Let me know what you found! Thanks- Sue
