Guest guest
Hi. My son is currently 3 1/2 and we are receiving ABA on Long Island in NY. However, we have been told that once he turns 5 (2002-2003 school year) they really try to cut the hours down and put the child into a center-based program. Unfortunately, unless you can get into one of the good private ABA schools, the state-run autism programs are really bad and I have heard of many kids who have regressed when being put into these programs. My husband is originally from NJ and we would consider moving to NJ- and I was wondering if anyone who receives ABA in NJ could let me know what the situation is in NJ in regard to getting a home program paid for by the state/county after the child turns 5. Also, how many hours a week could you get? Also, is the decision up to the county or the local school board-how does it work in NJ? Thanks, A ---------------------------------
