Must be some confusion - I haven't had a thyroidectomy. Diane who I replied

to did. There are also a couple others here that have had thyroidectomy,

including Simon from the UK. If my Graves' flared up again, I would

seriously consider thyroidectomy. But I have been fortunate that mine has

gone into " spontaneous remission " without medication.

A member of my hubby's family had Graves' and she had a thyroidectomy (back

in the '60's). I had met her several times before learning that she had

Graves'. I would have never known she'd had it or a thyroidectomy unless

someone told me. She is a vibrant person who has led quite the interesting

life. I decided that if she could live that kind of life after a

thyroidectomy, maybe it wasn't as horrible as I imagined :)
