Thank you for your responses on my posts regarding the hypoglycemia

and 's initial blood tests. was seen by a geneticist at

Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NY in October of 2003 who diagnosed

RSS. At 's 4 year check up at the end of December 2003 her ped

suggested we see Dr. Lawrence Silverman at town Memorial

Hospital in New Jersey. We saw him in February 2004 and he confirms

the RSS says that she is SGA without catch up. He prescribed she have

initial blood work done to check for growth hormone deficiency. I do

not, however, know exactly what tests were performed. When I spoke

with Yadira at Dr. H's office (to try to set up an initial apptmt),

Yadira asked if it was a stimulated blood test but it was not. From

my understanding RSS kids can have a false negative of growth hormone

deficiency is that correct? That's why I was wondering if to find out

for sure would an endo then have you do a stimulated test. I just

wasn't sure and at this point I have to wait to hear from Yadira to

get my first appointment with Dr. H or wait until Dr. Silverman reads

her results and calls me with what to do or wait for my next

appointment with him which is December. I guess my question is - -

what is the next step now? Could this mean or does this mean that

is RSS without a growth hormone deficiency or no? I just don't

know or understand what happens next and I guess I am anxious to know

before any doctor's visits. A copy of her blood work was sent to her

ped's office and they called me and told me that the blood work was

normal.

Sorry for so many questions and confusion. This is all new to us and

like any parent I'm sure, you want to know what's the next step.

Thank you again for all your information and responses.

If she is RSS, or just SGA without catchup, a stimulated Growth

hormone test is NOT indicated, unless the physician feels that there

is something else going on. So, based on that, it is my own

personal feeling that I wouldn't put her through a test like that

unless a doctor feels very strongly about it. If you are waiting to

see Dr. Harbison anyway, I might wait and ask her. Jenn
