Another Thing to Deal With

I had to the pediatrician for her recheck of her ear

infection with the ped on Tuesday. On Thursday night she told me

that her " pee pee's " were itchy. I was thinking maybe a yeast

infection after being on the antibiotic. Not exactly knowing what I

was looking for I look. I then proceed to look at her vagina

because at one week old had labia adhesions and we had to

simply spread the labia apart. So remembering that happened twice

as a baby and everything was fine I decided let me look and make

sure. Well low and behold it is totally stuck together and closed.

I called the ped and brought her in on Friday and he also said yes

it (her vagina) is totally closed. He was first going to suggest

using an estrogen cream but figured we are way too far past that and

instead referred us to a pediatric urologist who she will visit with

on October 14. The ped believes this may have to be open

surgically. And of course I went online to look it up. One

interesting thing I did read was that even after having it

surgically opened you need to apply the estrogen cream (and maybe if

I read correctly vaseline). Anyway what one site said about the

estrogen cream is that being that it is a hormone young girls breast

can develop and after using the cream some may experience a " mini-

period. " So I guess I need to call the endo about this because if

this cream does that does it mean it might start the process of

puberty? and don't we want to prolong that as much as possible? Had

I never found out about the RSS and all that goes along with it, I

would never have known. And especially thank you to all of you with

your posts because I have learned so much from you that I was able

to tell my husband this is something we need to learn and understand

rather than just thinking we are dealing with one thing.

UGH just more to deal with and what do you do in these cases? Just

get through it. HA with I have been through worse but I

guess I feel like this is more because I am aware of the RSS.

She's not in pain or anything and believe me if there was a way I

could keep things this way until she was married I would but I can't.
