Guest guest
Hi Donna, Your slightly elevated neutrophils aren't significant and a slight rise like this is often seen in GD. The risk with ATDs is that they can cause the neutrophil count to fall too low. This risk would also be associated with a total white blood cell count that is too low. Neutrophils and lymphocytes are your primary types of white blood cells and normally you have more neutrophils than lymphocytes. BUN and creatinine are elevated in kidney problems. These are breakdown products of protein and in kidney disease, the kidneys don't filter protein effectively. A slightly reduced BUN and creatinine is usually an effect of diet and suggests you weren't eating adequate protein the day or two before your blood test. In hyperthyroidism, we don't absorb nutrients from food as well as we should because food is digested rapidly. BUN can fall as low as <2 and that would be considered significant, as is seen in malnutrition. You don't need to worry about your results, but it's good that you're looking at them closely. Guest guest
I will try to make this as quick as possible because I know how busy you are. I requested all lab work on my last visit to the hospital. I received all thru half of July{they must be behind}. I know how that goes. I noticed that I did have a CBC{did not remember}and was told nothing about the results--just that everything looked good. This was in April, before I saw an endo. These are the AB results: Neutrophils--2.0-6.9-------8.2 This was before I ever started PTU. These have me very worried{Chemistry}: BUN----9-20-------8 Creatinine-0.7-1.2------0.6 I know what these tests represent and I'm worried. I do know that the Graves itself could have caused a high wbc, but what about the other 2 tests? Should I be concerned? I keep thinking kidney and liver problems. Graves does not alter these tests, do they? Now that I have been on PTU for about 3 months, I'm really worried. I have another CBC scheduled for November Thanks for you time and sorry--tried to make it as quick as possible. Donna
