Guest guest
Judith, I know all kids are different but don't underestimate the effect Dr. H can have on your child. She is willing to be the " bad guy " so use it to your advantage. She told Grant he was too old to be in diapers (3.5 years old) so when we got home we told him he was going to loose the diapers because " Dr. H said so " . He went willingly along (much to my disbelief), I think he really wants to make Dr. H proud of him. Grant has had a few other behavioral issues my wife and I have struggled with and when we tell Dr. H she talks to Grant about them, though he doesn't seem to listen to her in the office the eventual effect is profound. We use the " remember what Dr. H told you " phrase for reinforcement when we need it. It kind of irritates me that she can get through to him so effectively, but what the heck, whatever works at this point. -- In RSS-Support , " Sidny27 " <heraldjcb@a...> wrote: > Hi all, > > Just a quick update on our visit with Dr H yesterday. > > First, I was very happy with the space. Guest guest
hiu, glad to se you had such a good apptt. with dr.h. i hope all the new changes go well cara mom to jacob Sidny27 wrote: Hi all, Just a quick update on our visit with Dr H yesterday. First, I was very happy with the space. The waiting room had plenty of room and the receptionists were quite nice. Second, Dr H was running on time. We had a 1 pm appointment and she was ready to see us by 1:15. Unfortunately I was there but the rest of the family wasn't (I work in NYC and took a cab over, Steve drove in with the kids). Dr H and I sat down to go over some stuff while we waited. Third, parking was pretty good. The lot on 99th between Madison and Park is not a far walk. We were there for around 2 hours and it cost $12. As for the important stuff, Dr H was very happy with his weight and height. He grew an inch in the last three months and gained some weight. is currently 92 cm (36.2205 inches) and 11.79 kilos (25.992 pounds). He is growing at double the normal growth velocity for his age and is tracking to grow 4 inches this year. Thank god for growth hormones. Dr H had a long conversation with about potty training. Personally, I don't think it will make any difference, but we will see. is 4 1/2 and wants no part of using the potty. The only times he willingly goes is first thing in the morning and before a bath. However, after this conversation and another one about getting dressed by himself (she spent 10 minutes trying to get to put on a sock himself), she realized how " inattentive " is. We also discussed his repetitive behaviour. It actually used to be worse, now he is much more easily redirected. We also discussed 's eating habits, especially what foods he eats. Dr H wants to begin feeding therapy again. She wrote me a " prescription " which I will fax over to his school district today. I am sure they will want more information, but I will just put them in touch with her. She also upped all of 's medications (except GH). His reflux was acting up and he had outgrown all of his dosages. Hopefully this will work. He is now up to 10 ml prilosec in the morning and 4.7 ml zantac at night. This appointment, we had ('s twin sister) with us. I was waiting for the lecture and got just what I expected. She is very concerned for Becca's weight and kept telling us to make sure that Becca doesn't become obese. Becca is a bit over 40 inches and 41 1/2 pounds. On the other hand, she was amazed at how well was reading. Anyway, overall we were pretty happy with our visit. Guest guest
Judith, So glad to hear 's visit so well. I am glad to hear you had a very short wait time (we go in two weeks so I'll keep my fingers crossed). Dr. H also gave Jake the same lecture about potty training when he was a little over 3 years old, I thought....oh don't waste your time. She said by his next appt. she didn't want to see any diapers and you guessed it........he was fully trained. So I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
