I have a cookbook from 1942, and surprisingly enough,

it has a lot of GFCF recipes. It's called The Modern

Family Cookbook by Meta Given.

Van's Turn-a-day Pickles

2 quarts cucumbers, 2 1/2 to 3 in. long, 2 3/4 lb.

3 cups cider vinegar

3 T prepared mustard

2/3 C sugar

2 t. pure granulated salt

1 1/2 t. horseradish

Wash cucumbers thoroughly. Crisp 2 or 3 hours in ice

water. Pack closely in quart jars to 1 inch from top.

Blend remaining ingredients and pour over cucumbers.

Remove air bubbles and add more liquid to come to

within 1/4 inch of top. Seal. Turn jars upside down

each day for a week. 2 quarts.
