Our son's tests were still clearly abnormal 3-4 years after he started the diet. To begin with, the levels were several hundred times the normal level. After 3-4 years, they were only 3-4 times as high as normal. Remember that these tests are not absolutely specific: It's hard to know exactly what you're measuring. >....... Would it show a false negative after several weeks on the diet? Probably not. If you start out with a peptide problem, and get a " clean " body in less than a month, I would consider it sensational very promising. Maybe, in such a situation, experiments with diet challenges will be less " dangerous " . The speed with which the peptide chains leave the body, depends among other things on peptide chain length. Dr. Cade has statistics on how fast the peptide diagrams clear up for different test patterns. >Is there any merit to allowing a child to eat some of the " forbidden foods " prior to testing >to get an accurate picture? I would say NO to this. It's impossible to tell how fast the peptide levels build up during a challenge. Sometimes, they appear to come back very slowly. n K.
