Hi,

Many of us homeschooling parents, due to the " ABA Behavior & smart

kid " thread, have been outed. So, I have a question for you. I ask

it here because we are all dealing with at least 1 " spectrum kid " .

My son, Ben, is PDD-NOS. Lots of sensory issues. he was first dx

with

just SIdys. but has some other autistic-like traits that after a long

talk with his Dr. (who is a DAN! dr.) agreed to switch his dx to

PDD-NOS. Anyway, ben is high functioning for sure.

He is addicted to Nintendo. ( He LOVES cartoons too) I am of an

unschooling bent and have been letting him play til his eyes fall

out.

However, Ben is a little Aspberger-ish in his nintendo obsession, so

what do any of you suggest? Have any of you been in this boat? This

is

gonna sound terrible, but he just figured out how to play it a few

weeks ago(with big NT brother's help)and I feel like I finally get a

break from Ben who is <sigh> very intense and hard to deal with at

times.

Ya know, sometimes there's just no winning in this situation. OY VAY!

No matter what I do I feel like I'm screwing things up. I know I

have

to be the grown up, but sometimes I want some TIME OFF! It's so

quiet

when the kids are in the basement either playing with toys or (most

likely) nintendo. Ben's tantrums when I say no are pretty intense.

And he, often times, will not be redirected. He's very relentless

pursuing things he wants. I DON'T want him to be a brat.

Well, now I am rambling so I'll shut up and see what you all have to

say.

Thanks,
