Test question

Hello Everyone,

I had my first set of labs since starting Synthroid in late June.

I'm taking it in conjunction with PTU as part of the BRT protocol.

Anyway, my last test which was pre-Synthroid showed a TSH of .1. It

was the first time I actually had a measurable TSH reading!!

Since starting Synthroid about 3 months ago I went from a .1 to a .62

(range: .3 - 5.7, but I am trying to have a baby and according to

fertility wisdom TSH should never go above 2 even though the range

calls for up to 5.7). In addition, my most recent test recorded a

Free T3 of 2.63 (range: 2.30 - 4.20). That's pretty much where I was

before Synthroid as well. I don't have a Free T4 reading because the

stupid lab once again did not do it even though I WATCHED the nurse

write it specifically on the lab req form.

My question is, does this dramatic rise in my TSH indicate that

perhaps either my PTU dose should be lowered or my Synthroid dose

increased even if it is in range? Or do you think I'm OK as is and

should just continue monthly blood tests (I waited 3 months to do a

set of labs once I started the Synthroid to give it time to work) and

worry if it keeps going up? I want to keep my TSH right around 1. I

know I'm lower than that now, but I'm worried I will keep

escalating. My husband and I are starting IVF in January/February

and I would hate to have my TSH hold me up.

Thanks for your always valuable advice and input.
