got his J tube

Hi all,

I just wanted to let you all know that got the Mic-key low

profile J tube placed today. It took a long time for them to get it

in. They couldn't get it around a couple turns, but after using two

or three guide wires (ugh) they finally got it in. I just hope it

stays! That was one of the problems we had with the regular J tube.

It backed in to his stomach quite a few times. was such a

trooper. I would give this kid the world for all he has been through

and for being as strong as he is. He is acting like himself with no

trouble so far. We are still on 3/4 formula and 1/4 pedialyte, but

here in a little bit he will be up to full strength formula, and then

we just have to work on getting his rate back up to 40 cc's from

where he is at 20 cc's an hour right now. He has had two diarreha

diapers, but has been fine the last couple of hours. I will keep you

all updated on how it goes.

Let's just hope and pray that it will be a success and that he will

not have to go through the Nissen surgery. I am terrified of

surgery, especially after my husbands 63 year old mother just had

surgery for Crohn's disease and removed about 30' of bowel. Had

complications and almost died last night! It was awful, and the

original surgery happened almost a month ago and has been in and out

of the hospital ever since. Turns out there was seepage from the

surgery and it only happens about 20-25% of the time with this

surgery. What luck she has! But, couldn't win the lottery for

nothing. So, needless to say, I am a little gun-shy of surgeries

right now. She is still in critical condition, but the great thing

is she made it through the emergency surgery she had to have last

night in order to save her life. It was a last ditch

effort......they didn't think she would make it. Thank God she did.

I hope you all will keep us in your thoughts the next few days. We

have no idea what is in store, but hoping she recovers well. It

looks like a long haul though.

Take care all,

Jodi R.
