Guest guest
Thanks, Ken. It's always fun to joke around with you. Your sense of humor is just great. Yes, things are going pretty well around here, except for one incident this week.... Max went to use the upstairs bathroom after school - home alone, feeling independent, knowing Mom would not be home for at least an hour, acting real teenager-like - got mad at the lid of the toilet seat because it would not stay up as he wanted it to, so he slammed it against the tank of the toilet. Lo and behold, the toilet had had enough of his temper and showed him who was boss! The thing cracked and broke in half in the back. There was water EVERYWHERE, all the way into the basement that we just had repainted, refinished, etc. BUT the bright side is that Max panicked and called his sister before he called me. She calmed him down and then she called a family friend to come over and help. Max called me at school, appologizing profusely, but he was not crying or throwing up at least. He handled things pretty well for the tragedy that was unfolding, or overflowing, at the time. What did I do? I called Wayne, the friend who was coming over to help, made sure he was on his way and took my own darn time driving home. I decided to stay calm and let the " men " do the clean up, mopping and damage control. By the time I got home, there were buckets set out, towels down and the wet vac was running. The good news in this is twofold: Max handled it and helped clean up and we get to put in an insurance claim that will now cover new carpeting for the downstairs, a luxury we could not afford if Max had not done what he did. So there is a silver lining in everything, right? Jodi Z.
