Question regarding Beta Blocker.......

Thanks for your advice. I just called my pulmonologist and he said

that atenolol is a selective beta blocker and usually doesn't

interfere with asthma.

Hi ,

I think it depends on how you feel. I have mild asthma and couldn't tolerate

even one dose of Atenolol. It made me feel like I had to gasp for breath. It

also dried my eyes, a common side effect apparently but one that made my Graves'

eye symptoms feel worse. I tolerate most meds pretty well--but I couldn't handle

even one dose of this! Instead I took a calcium channel blocker for the first 8

months, after which my heart symptoms settled down.
