Listserve- RSS/SGA Walkathon

Hello!

All of us on this listserve have a child that has either RSS or

SGA. We all want the same things – the best for our own child, and

for similar children around the world.

In discussions, we have all talked about wanting to provide tapes of

the MAGIC convention free to physicians, and at a minimal cost to

families. We want to be able to distribute the upcoming Guidebook

to physicians and families. And most importantly, when is Dr.

Harbison going to publish her data!!! Well, we want to hire a

researcher/writer to help Dr. H with that project.

But this takes money. Many of you have asked Katy and me how you

can help. And have explained that your financial situations

prohibit you from donating money. We understand.

Well, we have the answer!!!! We need you to " walk. " In October,

families all over the United States will be walking on different

days, at different times, all to raise money for MAGIC and for the

RSS/SGA division. 50% of the funds we raise will go to help put on

our annual MAGIC convention, and the other 50% of the funds will go

to our own RSS/SGA division!!!!

It is VERY easy for you.

1. You pick whatever day and time in October 2004 that works

for you.

2. You decide the type of walk and how long you will walk. Do

you want to walk laps around a track or go for a long walk through a

park or through your town? (Some adults are even walking in their

own home on a treadmill!)

3. Call MAGIC and get a " Participation Kit. " This kit has

EVERYTHING you need!!!! It has a step-by-step instructions sheet,

it has a MAGIC pledge sheet, it has a walker's bib that you can pin

to your shirt, it has sample pledge appeal letters that you can

customize for family and friends, and it has sample thank you

notes. This doesn't get any easier than this!!!

Remember, all pledges/donations from people are tax deductible to

them!!!!

You can use this information to gather pledges for every mile you

walk, and then you collect them at the end. My daughter is

going to walk (I will go along to assist her, and my husband and son

will be her " crew " as my son won't last 1 mile before whining).

wrote her own letter to family and friends. Involve your

children! Push kids in strollers. and I plan on taking

LOTS of breaks – for snacks, lunch and ice cream, or just to play

along the way. It doesn't matter how long it takes us, just how far

we walk!!!!

Please help!!!! There are 12 divisions within MAGIC, and we really

want to show MAGIC and the other 11 divisions what our division can

do!

families have donated money to MAGIC to allow for free memberships

for 2005. Call MAGIC now, explain your financial need, become a

member and then WALK. Help us help educate the world about RSS and

SGA.
