Guest guest
Jennie, Thanks for your questions in regards to Shelby. I have to say that no, she has not been on GHT. It is an " appointment " that my ex husband and I have been tossing around for a couple of years. I have really mixed emotions concerning GHT...My heart tells me that she is going to be okay as far as height...probably around 4' 11 " or 5 foot. (I am only 5' 4 " inches and her daddy is 6' 0 " ) without GHT...which is okay with me...but then I also find myself asking the " what if's " What if she would benefit from GHT and I am holding back the oppourtunity...I struggle.....I know that if I asked her, and explained that she might have to have a nightly shot to help her grow taller...well, her answer is going to be " Heck no mom, I am just fine! " I am laughing right now because she is at her daddy's for the weekend and I can really hear her saying this in my mind. Shelby is in the 2nd grade (she will be 8 in December) and the size difference is becoming less and less noticeable....I too can relate to the email in regards to playing baby, the only difference is that Shelby was always the baby and she wanted to be the mom...lol!! In kindergarten is when kids wanting to pick her up and carry her became a problem, she HATED it. I pretty much think she let her classmates know because now.....when they play, she is either the mom or the teacher. haha!! Is your daughter on GHT...even though I just read your email, funny how I can not remember..I have been painting my bathroom for the past 6 hours so I am going to blame it on the paint fumes rather than my age catching up with me.... Feel free to email me privatly at _smithjrtazracing@..._ (mailto:smithjrtazracing@...) if you want to compare any thing else or maybe Shelby and your daughter can email back and forth. She would be thrilled at thought of an RSS friend. That reminded me of another funny comment out of Shelby's mouth...she has silver caps on several of her teeth and if anyone young or old ask her about them or comment on them her reply is always...... " I have Silver Syndrome and that means I am going to be short and skinny and that is why I have silver teeth. She also adds in there that her mom and her will NEVER be able to share clothes...... Has to be good for a laugh!! Have a good night and I hope to hear from you soon. ~~ Proud mommy to Shelby
Guest guest
Hi , Lindsey would say No way too, if she had to get a nightly shot. She wont even get her ears pierced! Lindsey Does not know she has RSS,and I wont tell her she's going to be short. The Drs. said she will probably be my height 5'1. but if it wasn't for her 6'3 daddy then she would be really short the geneticist said. Lindsey is delayed, and I have never really had a reason to discuss RSS with her. Especially when I have doubts about this diagnoses. I will probably end up kicking myself when she's older and it turns out she really does have it loll! She hears RSS all the time and she also hears the words tourettes syndrome all the time, but she's never once question me about it. I will talk about the tics and she does know what that means. Lindsey is developmentally delayed and cant write yet! She would love to hear from your daughter though! I will read it and write for her if that's OK. Lindsey has always been babied by others too and picked up. Just this year at hippotherpay camp, one of the workers was holding Lindsey with Lindsey legs wrapped around the lady's side and the PT told her never to do that again, she's not a baby loll! Lindsey didn't mind a bit. Lindsey really doesn't seem that small to me, yes skinny, but she doesn't stick out in the height department to me. I find there's ALOT of small kids at Lindsey's school. There are kids that are a lot taller, but then there's little people too Lindsey's in a self contained class,so maybe if she was in a classroom full of 8 year olds I would see a difference. She is growing finally. My husbands side of the family are all very tall. They are all 6 foot plus! She Does have alot going for her in that department. My side are all short. my mothers 4'11 if that now I would love to see a picture of your daughter.
