Guest guest
I checked with Schwan's about a few products I was interested in. If anyone is interested, they have a web site www.schwans.com and a toll free phone of 1-888-schwans. They do no have a " gluten free list " , but will give you the list of ingredients and verify GFCF status on any product you are interested in. Of the products I checked, the following were GFCF: skinless franks hash brown shreds beef taquito (my son loves these and he doesn't usually eat meat) mashed potato nuggets I'll be calling later this week to check on some more items and will post what I find out. Guest guest
Thanks for the Schwans info. I had emailed a request, and they won't give this info out by email but did give me another phone number besides the main toll-free number for calling up to verify. Don't know whether or not it matters which one you use, but the specific one they gave me for this purpose is 1-. We established that the vegetables should all be ok unless they have pasta with them (the vegetables are frozen) and the unbreaded fish should also be ok. In addition to what has already been listed, the roasted chicken drumsticks, and either the unbreaded chicken or unbreaded turkey filets may be ok (I think it's the turkey because I remember the chicken is in a light marinade of some kind). I'm going to call and re-verify these items again later this week as I usually verify things twice and then again if I find any changes on the ingredients lists; will let you know for sure about the chicken/turkey. Sorry I didn't post this before, but totally forgot till I saw the other post. By the way, is the salsa ok with the taquitos or just the taquitos themselves--sorry if that's a really ignorant question but I haven't had somebody read me the ingredients on this product yet? Also, I will say that Schwans was very good about forwarding my original email from the internet response team to the Customer Product information department and the response time was very short. Also, they were happy to look up the ingredients for several products and never rushed or bothered by my questions. However, I also felt that I needed to be very specific with my questions as I'm not sure just " is this product gluten/casein free? " would be adequately understood. But I think this is true of most companies you call, unless possibly it's a company that specifically caters to people on special diets. Better to err on the side of caution than to worry about somebody feeling insulted because you were too specific. And if they can't tell me what the " modified food starch " or " flavorings " are, that product is off my list until I can find out more.
